Flashback to Lucerne Switzerland

Where we stayed:

Hotel Flora

The rooms were very clean and updated. The staff was very friendly, they checked on us the same time every day!

Where we went:

Mt. Riggi

Take the ferry into the town of Weggis. Where you can then take a train up the mountain! There is not much in the town near the top of the mountain. We did find a small market where we grabbed some strawberries, bread, cheese, and sparkling wine to picnic with.

Lion Monument

It was carved out of natural rock in memory of the heroic deaths of the Swiss mercenaries at the Tuileries in 1792. Mark Twain described the Lion of Lucerne as the saddest and most moving piece of rock in the world. I have to say I agree with Mark Twain, as you stand there viewing it you find yourself being touched with emotion.

Musegg Wall and Towers

You can catch some beautiful views exploring this site!

Where we ate:

Zunfthausrestaurant Pfistern

This is where we did the touristy thing and had fondue! I don’t how “touristy” it was, it was GOOD and I loved every last drop of cheese. I probably gained ten pounds at that dinner alone! I do not regret it one bit, I cherished each potato and piece of bread I dipped into that mixture of cheese and wine!

JazzKantine

We were walking around one night and it started pouring rain. We ducked into this place randomly and it was one of those serendipitous moments. It happened to be a cozy spot with Jazz musicians playing and friendly bartenders. It was one of those unexpected memories of the vacation.

Café Dahinden

We stopped at this café in Weggis after our adventure at Mt. Rigi. We had some killer ice cream sundaes to reward us after our long trek!
