Quick Turkey Bolognese


Adding bone broth to this recipe gives it an extra added bonus. Also, another layer of flavor. The turkey and carrots simmer and soak up the bone broth. Along with the traditional flavors of a bolognese sauce.


Quick Turkey Bolognese

ingredients

  • 1lb turkey meat

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 2 tbsp red onion, finely chopped

  • 1 carrot, coarsely chopped

  • 1 cup bone broth

  • 2 cups crushed tomatoes

  • kosher salt

  • pepper

  • garlic powder

  • 4 basil leaves, chopped (fresh if you have it, other wise 1 tsp dried basil)

instructions

  1. In a large skillet with high sides heat the olive oil. Add the garlic, onion, and carrot. Saute until the carrots become softer, and the onions transluscent. About 8 minutes,

  2. Raise your heat higher and add the turkey meat. Stirring frequently and breaking up any large pieces, and until the meat is no longer pink. About 10 minutes. Season meat with 1/8 teaspoon of kosher salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. Add the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Simmer on low for 3 minutes or so until the broth reduces a little.

  4. Then add the crushed tomatoes. stir gently to incorporate. Season once again with kosher salt and pepper to taste. Add in the basil at this time.

  5. Bring mixture to a simmer over medium low, until the sauce thickens. This takes about 15 minutes, keep an eye on it!

  6. Serve over your favorite pasta with grated Parmesan cheese.
