Amarena Cherry and Chocolate Brownies

These brownies are absolutely decadent! The chocolate is amplified by chards of unsweetened chocolate and espresso throughout the batter. The Amarena cherry syrup gently flavors the the chocolate with they chewy cherries sinking into the mix as it bakes. If you love that black forest cake vibe, these brownies are for you!

Amarena cherries are small, dark, and intensely flavored sour cherries (specifically a variety of black sour cherry) that are typically preserved in a rich, thick syrup made from their own juice and sugar. They originate from Italy, particularly the Emilia-Romagna region, and are known for their deep red color and sweet-tart flavor. Most grocery stores carry the Fabrizio brand. Now Trader Joes has their own jar version as well!

This recipe will have you making the brownies from scratch. However, you could use boxed brownies and add in the cherry syrup. You may need to adjust the cooking time. Whatever the case, consider bringing these to your next gathering with a pint of chocolate ice cream in tow!
